I am interested in the mentorship program that you offer. Where do I find out more and how do I sign up?
Places for the 1-1 mentorship are currently full, but you are welcome to get in touch to be added to the waitlist. I will open up new spots in January.
I’m new to therapy. What is it like?
Because each person has different challenges and goals, therapy looks different depending on the individual. In general, sessions with me are experience-based, meaning we will make contact with your felt sense and explore the associated thought processes. That is because experience is often catalyst for change and also that understanding naturally arises from having ‘been there’, deep in contact with the experience of something. Parts Work therapy is great for working through patterns, internal and external conflicts, and relational wounds. Somatic Experiencing is best for nervous system regulation, embodiment and trauma resolution.
Sometimes I may suggest things you can do beyond the work we do in the sessions, to support your process - such as practicing a specific skill, reading a book, journaling on a topic, noting particular behaviors or taking action on your goals. This is all voluntary. The more you give to the process the more you gain.
How often and for how long period of time should we meet?
Depending on your specific needs, we could meet short-term, for
a specific issue, or longer-term, to deal with more difficult topics or when
you have desire for more personal development. Either way, it is most
common to schedule regular sessions (usually weekly or bi-weekly), and it's also common to book a single session first before committing.
Are sessions confidential?
Yes. Successful relationship in therapeutic context requires a high degree of trust with highly sensitive subject matter, so confidentiality is essential. Only exception to this is when the client's or a third party's life is at risk.
How long does it take to achieve full resolution for my issue?
These sessions offer a fast way of healing, without needing years of traditional talk therapy. As you probably guess, I cannot guarantee a timeline. I can let you know what affects the length of healing of a particular topic: severity of the issue (have you had it all your life, are there many layers), your ability to be present with felt sense, your focus, and sometimes also your willingness to make changes that will build on each other. Relationship with the practitioner, which takes more than one session to develop, also has a major impact since the more trust there is of letting go and going in, the deeper we can go.
Can we meet over a video call?
Yes, I am available for online appointments, if you do not live in the area where I do in-person sessions (Tallinn, Estonia).
Are Somatic Experiencing sessions effective online?
Absolutely. The main focus of these sessions is for you to attune to your body and learn to track your physiology: the sensations, emotions and movement impulses that naturally arise - and to gently build your capacity and tolerance for difficult sensations and emotions as we begin to work through the trauma and stress held in the body. Doing SE virtually can be just as beneficial as in-person sessions.
